warm, the menu choice was excellent and the front of house staff - without exception - were all very friendly, helpful, attentive and efficient. Our booking for 5.00pm gave us plenty of time! My wife and I, and another couple, had an early Set Menu Dinner here on Saturday 18th September - before heading to the nearby theatre at Kilworth House for a 7.30pm curtain up. I wouldn’t recommend that anyone attends the Winter Lodge based on our experience and would in fact recommend a local Christmas Market. I don’t think this is appropriate.Ī bill of almost £90 was paid for the most disappointing service I have ever had at the Grey Goose. She stated that she hoped it would be better next time. We said that it could have been better, that we felt forgotten about outside. Upon leaving the restaurant we asked for the bill, where the waitress asked how the service had been. I should mention that when our food arrived, again no cutlery arrived, so whilst waiting outside our food began to go cold so we decided to eat with our fingers. The rest of our meal arrived forty minutes after the soup arrived, which was all meant to be eaten together as nibbles in the Winter Lodge. Time passed, in fact forty minutes passed, at which point we chased our food. I mentioned that we didn’t have any other cutlery and that we had ordered other food, but no cutlery or other food came. This arrived without cutlery and the waitress had to go back inside to obtain this. This isn’t the service that I would expect from the Grey Goose on such small questions.Īnyway, the order was placed and a short time later two portions of soup arrived. In particular, what the soup they could offer and whether it was a vegetarian option. But when it came to ordering food unfortunately the waiter didn’t know the menu as it was new. Our first round of drinks was great, there were no issues with this. Unfortunately we had an electric heater popped in-front of us, with rain and wind battering through the exit doors, much to our disappointment of the area advertised. The outdoor space was advertised as fully heated and fully enclosed. When we arrived we were shown to the outdoor area where we were told we could ‘hire blankets’ for the evening, rather than being complimentary.

Because of this improvement in my total experience I am happy to change my rating to 5 stars. This evening a group of four ladies decided to visit their local the Grey Goose in Gilmorton.Īs regular visitors from the village, we expected nothing less than top class service at the newly advertised ‘Winter Lodge’, but unfortunately our experience. Our server got us in and out in reasonable time and we all agreed whatever wasn't working on our last visit was resolved this visit. I would have kept it all for myself! It looks like some of the interior changes will work well and not completely change the vibe. We passed it around and all enjoyed a few bites because granddaughter was thankfully willing to share. My granddaughter chose a strawberry cupcake with delicious creamy icing and strawberry preserves throughout. They offered an apple crisp for dessert but we are such huge fans of the cupcakes that we split a coconut one, good flavor but cake was a tad dry. The nuggets are very crisp and tasty as are the large size fries. The portion is huge, and really I would probably order it for myself. My toddler granddaughter got the kid's menu nuggets with fries and apple juice. It was very good and just the right size. I chose a nicely flavored lemon basil dressing. 2 of us started our meal with a side salad, a very nice small salad with mixed greens, pecans and feta. Our 3rd diner got her traditional chicken salad on a croissant. My friend chose the even older standby, the Brunswick Stew. It was old fashioned like your mother makes chicken noodle/macaroni soup. I chose the chicken noodle soup, homemade with spiral macaroni that needed some seasoning so I liberally used the salt and pepper. The menu has again been revised, but 2 of us went with an old favorite, Market to Market. The cupcake case was front and center and despite the absence of our favorite peanut butter cupcake, there was plenty to choose from! We were quickly seated and our server was new to us but seemed very experienced as a server and kept up with all of our quirks and requests. Dana Epstein and Diana the manager were both on hand. When we walked in some of the furnishings had been rearranged and they are in the process of painting and updating. Well today was that day, and again I went with 2 friends who work nearby. I said at that time I would be willing to return and reevaluate.
